1:1 Classes
Why Equipment Pilates?
Because it’s fun! Equipment Pilates can help improve and maintain overall physical fitness – leading to greater strength, flexibility and balance.
The resistance of the springs strengthens the whole body, activating the smaller stabilising muscles, as well as the larger muscle groups. Where there is instability, the equipment allows unilateral work to correct imbalances.
The instability of the moving carriage of the reformer provides all kinds of stability challenges that develop core strength and promote better balance.
The springs and ropes are specifically designed to enable you to work in the horizontal plane rather than weight bearing, reducing the load through your body. The low impact allows for repetitive movements which can tone and strengthen injured areas to speed recovery, without weight bearing.
“Kirsty’s Pilates sessions are an absolute joy. The exercises can be really challenging, but afterwards I feel supremely relaxed. Even after just a few weeks my core feels so much stronger, which helps both with my tennis – and my back pain, which has almost completely disappeared.”
DR ROBERT HARTELL, TENNIS PLAYER

Kirsty Himpfen-Jones

Kirsty is the founder of Spring Pilates and a fully qualified mat and equipment Pilates instructor, trained with APPI (Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute) and as a Moving Fascia teacher, with a strong focus on clinical Pilates.
Her approach is shaped by a genuine passion for helping people feel stronger, more confident and more at ease in their bodies. After experiencing a significant back injury herself, Kirsty discovered Pilates and the powerful impact it can have on alignment, strength and long‑term recovery. Through consistent Pilates practice, she was able to avoid back surgery – an experience that continues to inform how she works with clients today.
Kirsty also holds additional qualifications in pre- and post‑natal Pilates, NHS referral, working with older adults, and managing lower back pain. A keen tennis player, she is particularly interested in how Pilates can support performance, prevent injury and aid rehabilitation – both in sport and everyday life.
